May 17th, 2009. Happy Days at the Bomber opens the season for cruise-ins to Milwaukie, OR. There are several held here each year. The Bomber is a Milwaukie landmark since 1947. On the grounds is the Bomber Restaurant and a B17 bomber undergoing restoration. There used to be a gas station under the bomber. Time has taken its toll on the Lacey Lady B17, but the Wings of Freedom Project was established to restore the great plane. It's worth a visit to the museum on the site to see the progress that's been made. A lot of volunteer hours have gone into the project, but they could use donations to keep it going.
